Maina Kava, MD, DCH, DNB, FCPS, FRACP

Maina is a paediatrician (Metabolic department) and paediatric neurologist at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) Western Australia. She is a clinical Associate Professor with the University of Western Australia.
Maina is the clinical lead for the neuromuscular and neurometabolic program at PCH and leads the clinical trials and advanced therapeutics for neuromuscular diseases. With international collaborations, she is instrumental in setting up spinal muscular atrophy treatment centres in India and conducts regular workshops.
Maina is passionate about rare diseases and works alongside an excellent team of healthcare professionals to provide the best possible treatment available for a rare disease. She looks after children with neurodegenerative diseases and in her role as a clinician-researcher, is always advocating for treatment options.
